I really admire when people write regular blogs!

This summer has been a summer of change!  I feel like I say that every summer!

I made some very intentional changes to my businesses.  Most of the changes I have done on my own.  For some other changes, for some of the planning and staying focused I hired a business coach and I  took part in a Website Redesign Bootcamp.  I also had lots of help from my wildly talented niece with graphics and can't wait to introduce some of the characters she brought to life for me both for my website and an eBook I am working.

Things can move pretty slow in the summer.  I learned to be patient and just keep moving forward.  There was nothing that HAD to be done overnight.

Now the summer is almost over and I feel like I will never finish what I wanted to.  But I know that with God's help I will finish what I need to!

This is my first summer "working" my eBay business all of June, July and August and I can say it was a SUCCESS!  I sold over 560 scarves and sweaters. Compared to 250 in the same months last year!  Sure a 15% off sale all summer helped!

I am geared up to go again.... I list my first new auction this Sunday to end the first weekend of September.  I can hardly believe it!

Some new things to watch for on www.scarvesilove.com

  •     New scarves
  •     Some jewelry items, especially scarf rings and inspirational jewelry
  •     A few downloadable guides and eReports
        - how to purchase on eBay
            - how to care and store your Silk Scarves

  • Even more Scarves for auction and Buy it Now on eBay http://stores.ebay.ca/scarves-i-love

I've really enjoyed the world of Social Media!  A year ago I didn't have a twitter account, now I have 2 @pinkcanada and @scarvesilove I have well over 1,000 followers on @pinkcanada and should reach 1,000 on @scarvesilove any day!  I can honestly say ~ I have "met" some really great people, 140 ct at a time!  Who knew!

I make no promises that I am going to become a regular blogger.... however if you did happen to stumble by and have read this. THANK YOU!  Please take a moment and say hi!  If you have any questions or comments I will absolutely get back to you!

I am absolutely loving the bright fresh colours of this spring - summer season!  However I have to admit as I look at my wardrobe and my accessories... I have some work to do!

It's a great time for me actually.  With clear conscience I will be heading out to shop for accessories "I need".  I got rid of a lot when we moved a year ago.  I went through with eyes open, and gave away (or threw away), the stuff that I knew I wasn't going to use again, was outdated, worn out or was in the "why did I ever buy that" category.  And yet, I have some more clearing out to do.  So I am going to do a Spring Cleaning of my wardrobe and accessories.

I'm not sure I will buy a bright blue handbag, but I haven't ruled it out!

Having my accessories organized and knowing what I love to wear and how to wear them, has completely changed how I view getting dressed in the morning, or that special night out... no more ~ ackkkk what am I going to wear!

This week I will be doing a complete wardrobe and accessories inventory.  Some have asked me to walk them through an accessories inventory.  And I would love to!  I've gotten it down to such a simple system, so I am busy writing it down so I can share with you!   I am writing it up in a little eReport.  If you would like a FREE copy.  Just send me an email and I will send it to you as soon as it is formated. Just send me an email with  YES! Please send me the eReport in the title to pattiarbon@yahoo.ca

Sunday afternoon I had a great time with 15 fabulous ladies from Kitchener Waterloo ~ I am sorry I don't have any photos!  I should have designated a photo taker!!
One question in particular (other than... did you notice the "sparkle" on a certain young ladies hand)... has stuck with me...  I had refered to a scarf as a favourite.  And was asked "what makes it a favourite?"  If someone was going to buy one scarf that they would love and wear... what would they look for?
First off I have more scarves than I have ever counted,  and have a number of fav's... but this one in particular is a favorite, because it just has a comfortable look and feel to it ~ without being fussy, and may even look cotton, but it is 100% silk.  I love that it is a colour that I don't wear a lot, but goes with items I do! (such as a white T and Jean Jacket ).  Other favourites are because they are trendy and fun... I am wearing a lot of animal prints lately ~ but I would never feel comfortable in a complete animal print top or jacket.   I have a NECKLUXE with a lot of purple ~ it's a hot colour trend, but I don't own a single clothing item in purple.   Some are favourites because they feel fabulous ~ silk/cashmere pashmina  just feels so cozy on a chilly Winter day...   Then there is my Pink & Ivory Chanel... which I had to have  because it is just "me", and a great "preowned", "pre-loved" find!  ..I'll stop.   I think they got it... you need variety!

If you want an up close and personal ~ touch them, feel them, try them on ~ experience like these ladies had ~ email me and we'll set up your Demonstration/Trunkshow or Personal Party!!

Getting ready for this Sunday's Shop Social "The Retro Style Lab" !!!    You can probably still get tickets! If you buy them on line make sure you use the code "SoRetro" to save $5 off tickets.

A new friend

My dream location for designing and making NECKLUXE!  Of course it is overlooking water!

I have had a busy month since my last blog entry!

I was able to get a few items up on Etsy (still undecided) but it is nice to have a venue to direct people to for custom orders.  I am working at setting up sales straight from this site.  Working out the kinks... as in so far I can only see how to have one photo posted... I need more than one photo, as I love to show the wearing options and details of the individual items.... but after a few middle of the night "ah ha" moments, I am sure I will figure it out!

Back to Etsy... I am very thankful that someone noticed my items on Etsy and invited me to participate in the Toronto Art of Fashion Show Trunkshow, October 2, 2010.  What an amazing experience!  I am still absorbing much of the evening.  It felt like we were taking lots of photos but taking into account the poor lighting in our area and all the hustle and bustle I don't have as many as I would like so I am hoping to find some on line.

Here are a few of highlights!

I will keep you posted with some new styles and designs!  Thank you for all the support, enouraging emails and purchases!

I am excited about some new Silk Scarf Necklaces!  The basic design is the infinity loop, so it is a continuous loop and can be worn so many ways!!!
As always composed of 100% Silk with Vintage Costume Jewellery and findings.

I haven't completely decided whether to list them first on Ebay or to try Etsy.

Have a look, let me know what you think!!

Wear them as long or short as you want.  Fill in a jacket neckline, Loop it once, twice, three times, so many options!!!

I will not be selling on ebay for the summer months (June - August) ~ however will be gearing up for September!    I am sure it will be here before we know it.

I can not help but notice all the references and articles this spring/summer of Silk Scarves!!!  The trend is going strong, and more than ever is seen as a great way to add color and interest to an outfit.

Personally I do not wear as many scarves through the summer months but I am already seeing them tied to belt loops and/or purse straps and used to tie hair back!

Time permitting,  I will be adding to the silk scarf jewellry ~ these will either be offered here on the site, on etsy or at demonstration, so watch for that information.

As many of you know I will be MOB ~ Mother of the Bride this July, so we are looking forward with anticipation to this JOYOUS occasion!  Congratulations CHARLENE AND GRAHAM!

Have a great summer, may it be a time of reconnecting, refreshment and a blessed time for you all!!!!

Here is a preview of a necklace made from a silk scarf and vintage jewellery items.   This has been a fun outlet for me!  These are not up for sale or auction at this time.

This could happen to you!
The other day  I left the house with one of my favourite long oblong silk scarves on LOOSELY secured in a weave ~ 1/2 way through my running around for the morning, I noticed it was gone!!!  Slipped right off.  I wasn't able to retrace all my steps, but sadly I think it is gone.  Thus the importance of securing with a knot, or a pin... or at least paying attention!

A blog about silk scarves?  Sure!  I love to talk about things I have a passion for.  My family, My faith, Runnning, Beauty in design, nature, fashion, home decor, art - in general ~ Including all things Silk.

This would be a great place to let me know you were here, or just say hi!
